ไม้ล้มลุก ลำต้นเทียมสูง 1-1.5 เมตร ขนาดผ่านศูนย์กลาง ประมาณ 8 ซม. ใบ เดี่ยว รูปขอบขนาน กว้าง 5-20 ซม. ยาว 60-80 ซม. ดอก ออกเป็นช่อตั้ง รูปกระสวย ยาวประมาณ 15 ซม. ก้านช่อยาว 10-15 ซม. ปลีมีใบประดับสีชมพูถึงม่วงแดงเข้ม เรียงซ้อนกันแน่น ส่วนปลายแหลมมีแต้มสีเขียว ใบประดับด้านนอก จะแผ่ บานออกและหลุดร่วงเมื่อผลเจริญขึ้น ผล รวมเป็นหวี ผลเดี่ยวรูปแท่ง ขอบขนาน มีสันตามยาว กว้าง 1-2 ซม. ยาว 4-5 ซม.
Erect perennial herb, pseudostem 1-1.5 m high, ca 8 cm in diameter. Leaves simple, oblong, 60-80 cm long by 5-20 cm wide. Inflorescence erect, spindle shaped, ca 15-50 cm high; spathe pink to dark purplish-red with green patch at the acute tip, densely arranged, outer spathe expanded, caducous when fruit developed. Fruit baccate, clustered, oblong, ridged, 4-5 cm long by 1-2 cm wide.
พบขึ้นกระจายบริเวณภาคใต้ ของประเทศไทยที่จังหวัดนราธิวาสและมาเลเซีย ออกดอกและ ติดผลช่วงเดือนเมษายน-มิถุนายน
Southern Thailand and Malaysia. In Thailand recorded only in Narathiwat province, by the edge of a tropical rain forest. Flowering and fruiting from April to June.

Rare species with beautiful inflorescence, a high potential to develop into ornamental plants.
