ลักษณะ :

พืชล้มลุก สูง 20-80 ซม. ต้นเป็นเหลี่ยม มีขนปกคลุม ใบ เป็นใบเดี่ยว รูปรี ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบสอบเรียว ดอก สีม่วงแดง ถึงชมพูเข้ม ออกเป็นช่อ มี 15-20 ดอก ใบประดับติดทน รูปไข่ ดอกย่อย ขนาด 2-3.5 มม. กลีบรองดอก 5 กลีบ ขนาดไม่เท่ากัน กลีบดอก 3 กลีบ ขนาดไม่เท่ากัน กลีบคู่บนยาว 5.5-7 มม. กลีบล่างยาว 3.5-4.7 มม. รูปเรือ มีติ่งรยางค์เป็นฝอยละเอียด ผล รูปรีกว้าง มีปีกและขนที่ขอบ มีกลีบรองดอกติดอยู่ ขนาด 3.5-4.5 มม. เมล็ด รูปขอบขนาน ยาว 3.5-3.8 มม. มีขนสีขาวหนาแน่น

Characteristics :

Erect herb, 20-80 cm high; stem ridged, with short curved hairs. Leaves simple, elliptic; base attenuate; apex acuminate to mucronate. Inflorescence axillary and terminal, lax, 15-20 flowers; bract persistent, ovate. Flowers violet-red to dark pink, 2-3.5 mm across; calyx 5, unequal; corolla 3, unequal, two upper petals 5.5-7 mm long, keel 3.5-4.7 mm long, boat-shaped. Fruit capsule, broadly elliptic, ciliate and winged at margin, with persisten calyx, 3.5-4.5 mm wide. Seeds oblong, 3.5-3.8 mm long, with long stiff white hairs.

พบในแอฟริกา อินเดีย เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ อินโดนีเซีย และตอนเหนือของออสเตรเลีย ประเทศไทยพบทางภาคเหนือและตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ตามพื้นที่โล่ง ป่าสน ป่าผลัดใบ หรือป่าดงดิบ ที่ระดับความสูง 200-1,800 เมตร

Distribution :

Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Indonesia and Northern Australia. In Thailand, found in the northern and northeastern regions, in open areas of pine, deciduous and evergreen forests, at elevations of 200-1,800 m.
