ลักษณะ :

ไม้พุ่มหรือไม้ยืนต้นขนาดเล็ก สูง 2-8 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว เรียงเวียนสลับ เป็นกลุ่มห่างๆ กลุ่มละ 3-6 ใบ รูปรีแกมรูปหอก กว้าง 3-6 ซม. ยาว 7-14 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม ดอก สีขาว ออกเป็นช่อ ตามปลายกิ่งและซอกใบ ช่อละ 3-5 ดอก ขนาดดอกบานเต็มที่ กว้างถึง 6 ซม. กลีบดอกเชื่อมติดกันรูปกรวย ปลายแยกแผ่เป็น 5 กลีบ บริเวณโคนกลีบมีประสีเหลืองอ่อนแต้มเป็นทาง เกสรผู้ 10 อัน ยาวไม่เท่ากัน โคนก้านชูอับเรณูมีขนสีขาว รังไข่รูปทรงกระบอก ผล รูปทรงกระบอก มี 5 พู ขนาด 3-4 ซม. ปลายแหลมยาว ผลแก่แตกเป็น 5 เสี่ยง เมล็ดแบน ขนาดเล็ก มีจำนวนมาก มีปีกบางใสล้อมรอบ

Characteristics :

Shrub to small tree, 2-8 m high. Leaves simple, spirally arranged, group of 3-6 leaves along the branchlets, lanceolate-elliptic, 7-14 cm long by 3-6 cm wide; apex acute. Inflorescence axillary and terminal cyme, 3-5 flowered. Flowers white, up to 6 cm across; corolla 5, broad salverform, pale yellow blotch at base; stamens 10, unequal; filament with white hairs at base; ovary cylindrical. Fruit capsule, cylindrical, 5 ridges, 3-4 cm long, apex acuminate, dehiscing into 5 part. Seeds flat, small, numerous, with transparent wing.

การกระจายพันธุ์ :

อินเดีย จีนตอนใต้ และเอเชีย ตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ประเทศไทยพบทางภาคเหนือ ภาคตะวันออก และภาคใต้ ตามป่าดิบเขา ที่ค่อนข้างโปร่ง สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเล 950-2,200 เมตร ออกดอกช่วงเดือนตุลาคม-พฤษภาคม

Distribution :

India, Southern China to Southeast Asia. In Thailand, found in northern, eastern and southern regions, by hill evergreen forests and in open area, at elevations of 950-2,200 m. Flowering from October to May.
