ลักษณะ :

ไม้ล้มลุกมีเหง้าใต้ดิน สูงได้ถึง 5 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว รูปขอบ ขนาน กว้าง 15-20 ซม. ยาวประมาณ 50 ซม. ผิวใบเกลี้ยง ดอก สีขาวนวล ออกเป็นช่อจากเหง้าใต้ดิน ขนาดผ่านศูนย์กลาง 10-18 ซม. ก้านช่อดอกยาวถึง 1 เมตร กลีบประดับรอบนอกแผ่บาน ปลายมน กว้าง 2-4 ซม. ยาว 4-7.5 ซม. กลีบประดับชั้นในเรียงซ้อน กันแน่น มีขนาดลดหลั่นกัน ยาว 1-3.5 ซม. ดอกย่อย สีขาว กลีบดอกเชื่อมกันเป็นหลอด ปลายแยกเป็นสามแฉก กลีบปากมีขอบ สีเหลือง เกสรผู้สมบูรณ์ 1 อัน ผล รูปกลม มีขนนุ่มขนาด ผ่านศูนย์กลาง 1-2 ซม. เมล็ดมีขนาดเล็ก

Characteristics :

Rhizomatous herb, up to 5 m high. Leaves simple, distichous, oblong, 50 cm long by 15-20 cm wide, glabrous on both surfaces. Inflorescence axillary thyrese, peduncle 100 cm long or more, many flowered; involucral bracts white, large, spreading, 4-7.5 cm long by 2-4 cm wide; flower bracts densely imbricate, 1-3.5 cm long, gradually smaller inwards. Flowers white; corolla tubular, apex 3-lobed; labellum white with yellow margin; stamen 1. Fruit globose, pubescent, 1-2 cm diameter. Seeds small.

การกระจายพันธุ์ :

เป็นพันธุ์ไม้หายาก ในประเทศไทย พบเฉพาะบริเวณป่าดิบชื้นทางภาคใต้ใกล้พรมแดน มาเลเซีย ที่ระดับความสูง 50-400 เมตร ออกดอกตลอดปี

Distribution :

Endemic to southern Thailand near the Malaysian border. In tropical evergreen forests at elevations of 50-400 m. Flowering almost throughout the year.
