ไม้ยืนต้นขนาดกลาง สูงได้ถึง ๒๔ ม. ใบประกอบแบบขนนก มีใบย่อย 1 คู่ ดอกออกเป็นช่อกลมบนช่อแตกแขนงจากซอกใบ ดอกย่อยสีนวล หรือสีขาวอมเขียว ผลเป็นฝักหนา สีม่วงคลํ้า กว้าง ๒.๕ – ๔ ซม. บิดและคอด ออกดอกช่วงเดือนกันยายน – มกราคม ขยายพันธุ์โดยการเพาะเมล็ด

Characteristics :

Archidendron jiringa is a medium-sized tree up to 24 m tall. Leaves bipinnately compound, consist of one pair of leaflets. Inflorescences are in axillary panicles of heads. Flowers are greenish-white or creamy-white. Pods are leathery dark purple, c. 2.5 – 4 cm wide, strongly lobed at each seed, and coiled. Flowering in September – January. This plant can be propagated by seed.

ยอดอ่อนลวกจิ้มนํ้าพริก เมล็ดนำมาทำให้สุกโดยผ่านความร้อนหลายๆ ครั้ง นำมาประกอบอาหารพื้นเมือง

Uses and Utilization :

The fresh shoots are edible after boiled with chilli sauce. After several boiling, frying or roasting, the seeds are eaten or cooked local foods.
